35th Annual Intertribal Gathering and Elders Dinner
The Northern California Indian Development Council, Inc. (NCIDC) sponsors the Northwest Intertribal Gathering and Elders Dinner and we want to invite you to be a part of this important regional community wide event. The 35th annual Intertribal Gathering allows non-native people a glimpse at the depth and beauty of Native cultures while providing American Indians a chance to share and embrace their traditions. With November being Native American Heritage Month the event is a way for the community to learn from one another in the spirit of Thanksgiving.
The Gathering is a community event that provides us all with an opportunity to honor all Elders and Veterans and the friendship of all peoples. Elders are served a free turkey dinner beginning at 12 noon followed by an Elders’ Gifting Ceremony at 3:00 pm. The dinner, which includes roast turkey, is provided at no cost to all Elders over 55, regardless of ethnicity, with a nominal charge to other age groups.
Throughout the day there will be American Indian arts and crafts available for sale, Native singers, a drum group and dance demonstrations, which include: Brush, Hoop, Tolowa, Aztec, Shake Head, Pow Wow dancers. Last year over 4,500 people attended the Gathering and over 2,000 dinners were served. Please join us for the 35th Annual Intertribal Gathering and Elders Dinner.
The Intertribal Gathering & Elders Dinner will be held on Saturday, November 12, 2016 at Redwood Acres Fairgrounds, 3750 Harris Street, Eureka, California. The gates open at 10:00 a.m. and admission to the grounds is free.
